So yeah... I have a great internet connection, satellite TV, but I don't watch TV, that's mostly my roomie's domain.

Still I find I would like to catch up on some anime.

Got channels? sites? or portals? or whatever?

And my local library system (state wide) doesn't have what I am looking for. I checked.

I hear people ranting and raving about Crunchyroll. I'm not an Anime fan, but maybe that warrants a quick looksee.

Crunchyroll is ok if you aren't going to watch specific, very popular anime on the day/hour it's released.

Every time I try to watch Dragon Ball Super when it's released, the site goes down for a while (I think they are constantly attacked by DDoS, probably Lizard Squad, cause, you know, they are ***).

It used to be better before they started putting ads in the video itself.

I'm a premium member, so I don't get ads at all.

Still sucks that I have to usually wait the next day to watch some anime.

It's got some gems in there you wouldn't think to look though.

The World God Only Knows
Dog Days
Demon King Daimao

Some other stuff.

In honor of the extremely overpowered Enlight effect from Excalibur in this month's Intense Ambuscade, I highly suggest watching the anime Soul Eater.

Soul Eater is amazing, but that english dub voice for Black Star is bleh. Excalibur is pure gold in that series.

Can confirm for Crunchyroll though, as long as you don't care about watching more current shows asap, the service is pretty good overall. Nice back catalog that will last you for quite a while no matter what type of taste you have.

I used to use crunchyroll before it started screaming at me for using adblock. There are probably hundreds of different sites you can view new anime as it's released that don't make you wait to see it or demand you buy their premium membership.

I use animeshow.tv, which is one of many identical anime streaming sites.

Looks like my link for Nyaa Torrets is doing the same thing... Is this some sort of "haven't posted enough" restriction?

animefreak.tv is pretty good. Links for some anime can be slow but in general it works pretty well.

Worth mention for the few Auzzies out there who don't know of it, can check out AnimeLab - basically a Auzzie version of Crunchyroll I guess? has some exclusives that Crunch hasn't got I think. Also exclusive to Australia & New Zealand folks.

Well, the thing about Kissanime is that they don't actually have licenses for the shows you're watching. If you care about that stuff at all, here's a sticky on Reddit I find helpful:

https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/legal_streams_/_downloads

And if you're looking for a specific show (for free, it doesn't always show the library of titles behind the subscription wall), you can find which legal provider it'll be on here (think it is only good for NA though):

http://because.moe/

As for Crunchyroll, if you are willing to pay $7 a month you get ad-free content. It's not too bad for what you get. The service itself, yeah, when the bigger shows are VERY new the site sometimes gets congested, and possibly DDoS'd.. Then again, from what I've read, Kissanime has had its share of downtime due to DDoS.

Read the article I linked above, please. Crunchy's begun *** over the paying customers too, I'm certain even you've noticed the hit in video quality going on.
You should read the blog again too.

Quote:
2017–03–16 UPDATE: Crunchyroll has put out a technical blog post regarding the reduced video quality. They have also started pushing out new encodes with improved encoding settings, albeit from quick comparing the new encodes are more of a side-step compared to their old ones from before the reduced quality ones. Nevertheless, this means that the vastly reduced video quality will be going away eventually and should not affect new episodes from now on. I wish we’d have gotten more than effectively just a return to the starting point, though. One can hope that Crunchyroll has learned their lesson though and will be improving their video quality further afterward. Maybe one day they will actually start fixing flaws in the sources they get!

Netflix and Hulu have decent options, especially if you are already paying for those. Hulu has a better breakdown of genres and is getting into simulcast. Youtube has stuff but you have to know how to look (show s# episode#). Otherwise, I use kissanime, which usually has stuff an hour after airing.
