Alright, debate my maths if you wish, I may have got this wrong but what we have here is:

Cursed Pumps -1:

Siren's Macrame: 500k
Velvet Cloth: 5k
Gold Thread: 14.5k
Rainbow Cloth: 20k
Manticore Leather: 10k

549.5k x10% HQ rate = 5,495,000 average per HQ

Voodoo Pumps: 5.5m (lazy and rounding up)
Eschite Ore: 200k

5.7m x10% HQ rate = 57m average per HQ

So that would be your absolute minimum selling price.

Adaman Chain: 10k
Adaman Sheet: 30k
Brass Ingot: 3k
Thick Sollerets: 38k
- Steel Sheet: 10k
- Darksteel Sollerets: 28k

81k x 10% HQ rate = 810k per HQ

Voodoo Sollerets:

Your HQ rate is off. That is for a T1 synth. The feet are T2

Are they T2? Wiki says T2 is 31-50, do we hit that with all the relevant crafting furniture/gear?

550k/synth * 16 synths/hq = 8.8m/pumps-1

9m/synth * 4 synths/hq = 36m/apogee+1

Add in the crafter's risk and I'd say 45M is about the cheapest fair price.

T0 synth cost is roughly 80m on leviathan, but I wouldn't honor that just because friend is stupid enough to ignore the math and keep trying for a HQ.

Ah ok, fair enough. In essence then feet aren't ridiculously expensive to HQ, begs the question what OPs friend did to spend 50m on the synth, was he synthing the much less efficient version that uses cursed pumps? Perhaps it was just bad luck.

OP outright said he was doing the more expensive synth. Even then, at a 36M median cost you could easily hit 50-80M doing the cheap one. Averages mean very little to real results unless your dataset is large enough to balance out.

i don't envy trying to sell that, i get cost to produce but who wants to spend 150m so their cureskin stops 4 more damage

Cursed pumps-1 are T1, that's only the Voodoo/Jinxed feets that are T2

Cursed pumps are tier 1, due to the subcraft of Leather being level 56, so there is no way to get both Cloth and Leather high enough to break into Tier 2. I'm not sure if Jinxed/Voodoo gear has a subcraft requirement also.

As far as other Voodoo Apogee go, Cursed Crown is Tier 2 (Level 91) and has pretty simple ingredients. Voodoo Crowns should maybe cost 10mil each to make on average, depending on your server's prices.

They could probably be turned over slowly for 20-25mil, I'd guess.

Voodoo Crown should be cheaper. Depending on server, it's a little cheaper to try to HQ the 119 gear from the NQ cursed crown. It requires Hepatizon Ingot, which on Bismarck, is only 45-50k atm, which is less than the price of Sirens Hair.

Every NQ->HQ attempt requires an Eschite Ore (300k), Sif's Macrame (230k), and Hepa ingot (50k). Even assuming your Cursed Crowns are an entirely sunk cost, you're looking at spending ~600k for a Tier 0 synth (optimistically a 4% HQ rate), which is 15mil per HQ (almost twice the cost of just sticking to -1s.)

4% on T1 is incredibly optimistic, do you have evidence to suggest orvail/craftmasters add a direct 1% probability instead of relative?

No, and my experience would indicate otherwise. I was just pointing out that even in the best possible case it is still not better than upgrading -1s.

For some reason, I was thinking the old NQ abj synths were mid-90's if you had the HQ, and 104-109 is you had the NQ, which would make them a Tier 1, thus doable and semi-cost effective depending on the recipe. My mistake.
