"Fighting" the dragon that killed me on Dark Souls... whittle him down to half health... he wraps himself in his wings and regens like 25% of his health... does it every... ***... time...
I would wait till later on when you got better weapons as you just found out he'll regen faster than you can kill and for 10k souls eh...
Yea, you should avoid picking the master key for your first playthrough .-.
That's just my opinion though~
Why is that your opinion? His opinion is to start as Thief and choose the Old Witch's Ring.
Because thief gives you the master key and the old witch ring is inconvenient to get so people won't usually ever discover what the girl says (even though it's extremely sad D:).
I feel that the game has different levels of difficulty, and you can do things to make the game easier and gain advantages.
One of the first advantages is the master key, but it also can cause issues. If new players picked it and just bypassed the depths to do blighttown rq and kill the boss, you miss out on embers, armor, and simply the experience.
If you are the type of player that doesn't mind OP advantages because you're going to do everything anyways then that's one thing, but to get the key just to skip one of the most hated areas in the game is bad.
Most players won't even explore blighttown with the master key, and they won't discover The Great Hollow and ultimately Ash Lake.
I just feel that it's a huge cheat. I'm not a fan of that stuff, but the one real advantage it gives you that I would agree to pick it as a gift is to fight Haval early on. No one likes to deal with being encumbered.
For me, I'd recommend all new players to avoid the master key and black knight weapons/shield. They really throw off the difficulty of the game making it too easy, and you end up creating bad habits because you had a strong weapon in your hand the whole time. After your first playthrough then it really doesn't matter, but I feel the first time you play you should play it in a certain way to experience what the game really has to offer.
I can see that, but I'm the type of guy who will explore most of every nook and cranny, at least if I'm not in a rush to beat it. I'm also sure Dark Souls is intended to want to *** me, and I'd of probably chosen the Master Key myself, even without his input. I just want to return the favor. Plus seems like I'll die a lot anyway xD!
Also, friend is asking if something is wrong with something something Catacombs, something something Gravelord Sword. No idea what he's going on about now, but you have him incensed xD

But I wanna kill it now... I want my revenge... Then I'm gonna go upstairs and bend that black knight over my knee for what he did to me...

People usually bash on the Drake Sword being a cheat early on, but you can become extremely powerful within 15-30 minutes of playing. The Gravelord Greatsword has very low requirements and one of the most damaging weapons you can pick up outside of dark knight weapons.
It just makes the game a pushover, it was intended to punish you and teach you how to defend yourself, then gradually become more powerful as you upgrade weapons. I just feel that is the proper way to play the game.

First time I found that one, this exact thing happened to me. Peek up and bam! Overhead smash on my face, one shot me.
Oh and don't forget to shoot the tail off of him for the drake sword. Will make the early levels much easier. Can do it with no fighting from under the bridge.
You're too kind; it is but a doodle. ._.
Did it last night after it happened. Scared the crap out of both me and my nephew...

>oh, the roof!
>AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>You died.
So kal did you get chaos +2 and use the shortcut or spend an hour in lava getting stomped on? :o
I didn't know about opening the door the first time I played, so I did go through the lava. It wasn't that bad, I found a bonfire by attacking one of those flame statues and I hit the wall opening it up. That saved me a lot of pain, and I remembered where that bonfire was from then on.
I now prefer to open the door so I can save solaire, I just enjoy doing it. I'll still go through the lava and take out the giant undead dragon leg things. There are a lot of shinnies hidden in the lava that I enjoy collecting for fun.

I can shoot it's tail off!?
By "fighting", I meant I was popping arrows at him from under the bridge, yeah lol. A whole 20 damage a shot!

Since a patch, forget which one, you can't kill him by just shooting arrows anymore. But you can shoot his tail off after so many and get the sword. I think it took something like 35 arrows for his tail to come off for me.
Well, you can't kill him with just arrows at the level you first find him, maybe later on when you're way overleveled for the area you can.
I don't have much hate against the drake sword, it's OP'ness doesn't last very long and you'll eventually have more of an advantage using upgraded weapons that scale with your stats where as the drake sword doesn't scale.
It does make the fight against the gargoyles a pushover though.
Oh wow not sure how I got that mixed up. Though this means I have to re-evaluate our friend ship >_> <_< fkin' redskin lover.
LOL well I do like Texas except for the Cowboys! GRRRRR lol Well Redskins had a good season. I'd call it a good season even if their only wins were against Cowboys. =3

This, it's an excellent early game sword and that is about it. Once you get like 30ish, it's best use is food for Frampt. Mine is about to be surpassed and I'm 36 (I neglected my weapons a bit longer than I should have. Was upping armor.)
It also made the Capra demon a joke. One plunge attack with it took out about 1/4th of it's health.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
