Forgive me if this has been asked but I was not able to find it.
But I'm wondering, if it is worth it to use polearm on sam if I do not have polearm merits? Also I do not have usukane or anything super rare. I have standard AH sky gear.

You don't need Polearm merits they just help, as long as you've got polearm skill well levelled you'll be fine

It just requires Crab Sushi on Birds, and Marinara Pizza anywhere else. Don't forget that part. Meat will not be viable without top end gear and full merits.
