Autism Research: New Protein Function Discovered

The research

The gene located on the X chromosome was discovered in 2010, what changed now is that they understood how the protein associated to it RAB39B works.
Malfunctions(or complete absence) in said protein cause cognitive defects that are typical of autism due to an interruption in the communication path between neurons.
With this discovery it can now be studied a way to fix the correct signaling path at a molecular level to possibly cure it.
