AMC Theaters Refuses to Show Netflix’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Sequel

So if you want to see it you can't at their theaters or IMAX screens? You HAVE to watch it on Netflix? At home?

Am I the only one who sees something self destructive here?

They are getting devastated because viewers that ALREADY dont go to the theatres will now have less reasons to all together.

More people would go if they didn't overcharge by such a margin.

Then again they would also be cheaper if they didn't charge so much for a theater to rent a movie for viewing.

They have to charge a ton so they can even break even because they charge so much to show to movie itself.
Blame the people who give the licensing.

I was reading the regal cinemas profit report for last year, no: they don't, and they'd make even more if they cut the prices, as more people would come and more food would be sold. Yes the price of them showing a flick is insane, but they bring it upon themselves when taking your family of 4 to see a movie costs you $39+snacks, when one could just grab a flick from netflix or redbox, buy a few boxes of popcorn for the price of theirs, and a couple of 2 liters for the price of a soda. People know when they're getting ripped off and purposely don't go.

They bring it upon themselves.

I tend to watch the bootlegs unless it's a genre or specific movie that I can really get into. I'm not entirely upset about sitting at home to watch it.

Theaters could make a lot more money if they were more flexible. They should have it all. Large theaters, smaller viewing rooms that can be rented out, play/sell old movies, all genres, including foreign films, cheaper popcorn, soda, candy/snacks, attached eat-in only restaurant, eat-in cafe with movie viewing rooms, convention center with guest speakers/seminars, library, amusement park-style rides / stuff for kids, bookstore, multiplayer video game + physical activity coliseum, museum, individual movie view pod stations, video game arcades, internet cafe, digital download stations, movie memorabilia shops, video game/movie dvd/blu-ray / porn store, hookers and much more! Sounds like logistical nightmare, but it could employ a lot of people and lots of patrons would partake... could make it the size of a city! ^o^ or maybe not all of those things... and maybe not that big... but more things than most theaters have now would be cool.

Every genre including every anime genre and places to buy manga / anime / hobby / model kits / other merchandise Japanese cultural stuff of course too.

Basically heaven. ^^

I never buy food at a theater. That's some highway robbery right there.

I can never figure out why a soda there costs more than a 2 liter of the same type. It's ridiculous

Dude, you could but like 6 2 liters at 7-11 prices for the cost of a soda at a theater...
