I hope the people stay safe and that riots don't occur...both civilians and soldier alike.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't turn into riot tbh, but who knows.

a whole bunch of pawns for the politicians.
Care to elaborate? If you are talking about how the students are being used in the "Occupy Central" movement that the 3 politicians started, mind telling me why would it matter when the politicians, or the foreign forces from the US or the UN has nothing to do with us Hong Kongers not getting a fair election?

Those students went on the street for the sake of the better future in Hong Kong. You have no idea what have happened in the last 17 years in our city because of bad decisions that are made by our own China-vetted Hong Kong government, who were supposed to make it right for us.

It was time for us to take a stand.

While it's certainly an exaggeration to call the students "pawns", some (anti-China)politicians did gain some free marketing from this movement.

Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a computer virus that spies on Apple Inc's iOS operating system for the iPhone and iPad, and they believe it is targeting pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.

The malicious software, known as Xsser, is capable of stealing text messages, photos, call logs, passwords and other data from Apple mobile devices, researchers with Lacoon Mobile Security said on Tuesday.

They uncovered the spyware while investigating similar malware for Google Inc's Android operating system last week that also targeted Hong Kong protesters. Anonymous attackers spread the Android spyware via WhatsApp, sending malicious links to download the program, according to Lacoon.

It is unclear how iOS devices get infected with Xsser, which is not disguised as an app.

Lacoon Chief Executive Michael Shaulov told Reuters that Xsser is the most sophisticated malware used to date in any known cyberattack on iOS users.

China has seen many a worse and larger protest/ rebellion, Modern history Tiananmen Square, Bit further Back Boxer Rebellion.

None ended well.

Those with Power supported by others with power will gladly stomp neck whilst forcing people to bite the curb.

Sure you can argue today The world is able to see the atrocity unfold, but The world does not really care. Threaten to raise prices in Walmart 10% and you would have such a backlash around the world you would think they were threatening to eat babies on public T.V.

However a little 99%er demonstration in China is not going to do enough, quick enough, and if it even smelled like it would those in control would stomp the boot to the neck so hard Teeth would be found in the victim's rectum.

There is no New History!
