I got the USB converter for the Ps2 controller and it works. But not with windower. Any idea as to why?

I went into config settings before loading the game, assigned all the keys and then went into windower but nothing.

Loaded without and it works fine.

Ok Scratch that. It worked in the menu but not once the game was loaded. So not working for both with and without windower,

I found your problem.

You are using the wrong program. Should use "Windower", not "Wondower"

sounds like windower is launching the wrong region of the game, as there's multiple regions and configs on certain installs, and you can change the path of which pol.exe you start with windower.

At least that's what it looks like from here, without taking a look, it's hard to be certain. (also not on my windows PC at the moment to take a look at the installs to tell you what it should be, on my linux laptop).

Well, as soon as you get it working for the game without windower, you will get it working for the game with windower....

I went into Steam and did the config there. I couldn't find any cofig options in my documents or anywhere on my desktop.

Check your start menu (unless you are doing Windows 8, then you are SOL unless somebody knows where the config is through there).

Scratch that, search FFXI Config or something like that.

Yea man tried that, config is so well hidden.. if in fact it is in fact even on my computers hard drive. Steam was my only option I felt.

Steam

Found your problem, never installed it that way, so don't know the solution. I'm sure I could figure it out, just would have to take a look at it.

Do a search for ffxiconfig via your start menu (install classic shell if you're on 8, from ninite.com).

according to a KB article from SE, the install path of FFXI via steam is:

c:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix

"program files (x86)" for 64bit versions I'm sure.

That being said, the ffxiconfig would be in that folder.

Yep then you click Tools and the config file is there!

But it is in Japanese and all the controller options are greyed out! Also lots of ????? instead of text. So where the word controller would be there is instead ????????

So weird.

Thank you so much for getting me this far guys. I don't know why the config options are greyed out/ in Japanese.

Like I said in my first post: there's multiple language versions and multiple language configs.

There should be a "toolsus" and "toolseu" folder, and in the eu one there's multiple language options.

gotta use the right one.

No reason to be sorry, I'm going from mostly memory from other's issues with similar problems over the years. That and I use a controller all the time, I just purposely install the game from the SE files instead of from steam well because POL itself was meant to be like steam, I find it rather redundant, even though I have steam installed for other things.

I am learning so much today. I am doing this for my wife because the Xbox is just so frustrating for her as a healer now that we have been doing more 18-36 man content with the latest patch. That framerate /thumbsdown

I also just learned how to config my windower timers and change there location / size and remove the timer bar that scrolls across the screen. So very exciting times here :)

//statustimer setposy 75 is a command I have loaded in but still have to run it often, and my healer macros need some major updates.

I am lazy though, and leave most windower settings alone, I should learn gearswap.

to change the windower default statustimer plugin location, my timers often overlay over the icons, I'm not sure what settings they made those plugins for, but I use a 1920x1080 resolution.
