3.0 is, as far as I've read, not being fully utilized even with upper end cards. You might loose a small tiny bit, but unless you are doing SLI with top tier cards spanning multiple monitors, you probably won't even notice.

The differences with a single, mid to high range card are going to be in the tenths of an FPS.

Honestly... you could run it on PCIe 1.1 and it'd still perform rather well.

Doesn't the game tell you what your fps is in one of the main menus anyway? could have sworn I saw it.

so I OC'd my evga gtx 670 ftw with +50 core and +700 memory in the precision X OC. seems to be stable. but I had my cpu i5 3570k at 4.5 with temps at 75-80 at max load. but dropped it down to 4.2 which is 60-65. should i increase the OC on my cpu? or just keep it at a nice 4.2

is it 100% stable at 4.5 then keep it there.

im not talking about passing a few simple furmark runs but under real stress

Would FFXIV be considered an intense game like Battlefield 3? I know people test their GPU overclocks in games such as Battlefield or Crysis even, but would FFXIV be a viable test like the other two games?

well I ran prime95 heat stress test using all cores at 100% for 30 mins. it never failed. I just didnt like the high temps of 75-80 even though thats acceptable. didnt want to drain the life of cpu that much faster. lol guess ill go back in and redo it. im sure even a 4.7 would work... come to think of it i think 4.7 was the 75-80 temps. ill have to redo it. also volts on 4.7 were like 1.345 and i thought that was a bit much.

Man. had to lower the OC on my gpu because i was playing ST2 for like 30 mins and it went wacky. had to drop the +20, +250. weird. i know ppl get +40, +750. not sure why my card cant do the same. guess i got a bad one.

But before i even started OCing i did have an issue with ST2 before. once. where the creep started tessellating weird so it looked like i had 50 giant triangles on my screen. maybe its just ST2. i guess i can OC again and try civ 5, or ffxiv next week. its weird that i was able to run the Heaven benchmark on high/ultra without my card giving issues.

I can say for a fact FFXIV isn't just about what graphics card you have. It's slightly intensive on your CPU. Get a AMD 4.0Mhz+ processor or decent Intel processor plus a good graphics card. I have a GTX 760 and intel i7 3770k fps in towns is like 70-100 while a friend of mine has the same card and runs a Phenom x6 1090t and only gets like 40-60 fps in towns. Pretty big difference. They have the Direct CU asus. I have a gigabyte. Dont think that'll make that much of a difference.

I have a i5 3570k clocked at a conservative 4.2 but can easily get a stable 4.5-4.7. so im not worried about cpu. though once ps4 version is released i probably will rarely play on pc.

Grats Titox! Looks like there's no need for you to OC your GPU hehe, but like people say it's free performance so why not :P, anyways nice ^^.

I scored 11.5k on my Character creation benchmark and run great. only issue was the few hiccups that happened when my screen went black for a couple seconds. but that only happened on phase 4. so not sure what happened.

Yeah, Has that happened with any other games you've played Phenomena? If not then it's a safe bet it isn't your GPU.

@titox, you could also try bumping your cpu to 4.0 (should be able to hit 4.0 easily without messing with voltages) , will give a nice boost as well.

oh? I never tried that! Will be interested to try boosting it :3
.....is sad that I have never try it especially that i am a computer technician >.>;;;;

If the servers where up long enough without fails. I'd let you know. lol Ironic how NA/EU servers are constantly bugging and going down for maint but the JP servers where up and working flawlessly all day. Jerks lol

30 mins is not a stress test thats quick test
unless you only play for like 30 mins of a time

a proper done stress testing will tell you much more about the cpu and its life time than temperatures

Ive been running intel cpu's so hot the internal temp diode could not feedback the temperature (tjunktion delta went below 0)
the system ran stable for 16 hours stress prime
8 hours of intel burn test
8 hours of 7-zip compression
6 hours of memtest86+

you have to realise if you are on a intel cpu. you dont maasure the temperature by software.
the actual feedback from the cpu diode is a delta value up to max recommend temperature for the cpu
e.g. if you cpu is 80 and the max is 90 the cpu temp diode reports a value of 10
the software then subtract this value from what it believes the max is to be (the cpu dont tell) so the temperature you see is very depending on the software guessing the right cpu max temp.

this one of the reason you should trust in proper testing rather than cpu temperauter.

i realised a little stresspackage a couple of years ago because to many ppl used futuremark as a stable test wich it is pretty much NOT. Yhe heat output and power usage was alot bigger (sometimes more than 50% more power draw from the wall) compared to futurmark.
i will see if i can find it again.
